When it comes to reality shows, “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and “The Real Housewives” might be the first shows that come to mind, but there are a ton of other MTV reality shows that are now largely forgotten that a lot of people used to watch on a weekly basis.

Here are 15 MTV reality shows that you may forget their existence.

Room Raiders (2003–2009)

MTV developed a dating program. In Room Raiders, a participant looked through the bedrooms of three other competitors before selecting one to date based on their findings. We’d also want to bring up the time when Zac Efron, then 18 years old, made an appearance on the program wearing a green polo shirt.

Making the Band (2000 – 2002)

The first episode of the popular franchise, Making the Band, ran for three seasons. Sean “Diddy” Combs and a group of musicians competing to join his band served as the show’s main characters.

The Ashlee Simpson Show (2004 – 2005)

Prior to discovering Ashlee Simpson as a unique individual, we only know her as Jessica Simpson’s cool, edgy younger sister who favoured skinny scarves. That all changed when we got a glimpse into her life on The Ashlee Simpson Show and followed her while she made her debut album.

Meet the Barkers (2005 – 2006)

The drummer for Blink-182 Travis Barker and his then-wife Shanna Moakler disproved the notion that your wholesome next-door neighbours would be cool by actually being quite laid-back. Sadly they’re no longer together.

Made (2002–2014)

Each episode of Made teamed a teen with a “Made Coach” who would assist them in achieving a significant life objectively. Some young people started singing. Others turned into skateboarders, skateboarders, sportsmen, and even the homecoming queen.

I Want a Famous Face (2004–2005)

I used to get the chills watching the plastic surgery shows from the 2000s, which mainly featured people trying to appear like their favourite celebrities or whose insecurities were played up for ratings. One of the worst offenders was I Want a Famous Face.

The Osbournes (2002 – 2005)

Over the course of five seasons on MTV, the public fell in love with Ozzy and his (at the time unknown) family. By the way, it’s lovely to see Kelly as a pouty teenager. Rewatching this one is actually recommended.

Rich Girls (2003)

The show focused on Ally Hilfiger and her best friend Jaime Gleicher, the daughters of two rich businessmen.

Life of Ryan (2007 – 2009)

Ryan Sheckler, a professional skateboarder, was the star of this show, which managed to run for three seasons. In the show, he boards the skateboard, looks after his little brothers, and makes flirtatious comments to every woman. His speeches on love, happiness, and life were the greatest part.

MTV Cribs (2000–2009)

This one was obviously always on your mind, but it still merits a mention. Prior to Instagram, MTV Cribs was the only genuine window we commoners had into the homes of famous people.

My Super Sweet 16 (2005–2011)

My Super Sweet 16 followed one wealthy 15-year-old per episode as they organized their wildly extravagant 16th birthday celebration, as the title of the show suggests. There were always performances by famous people, presents of expensive sports cars, a complex invitation system, and invariably, a temper tantrum.

Surf Girls (2003)

Fourteen amateur surfers were chosen to live in a house with lots of Roxy clothing and compete for the chance to become professionals.

Parental Control (2007–2009)

Because they detested their existing relationship, parents in the drama Parental Control played matchmakers for their adolescents. The parents would then watch while their child went on a date with the person they had chosen, while the teenager was still with their existing partner. The adolescent was then pressured to decide between staying with their initial companion or not. It would seem to be probably staged.

Road Rules (1995–2007)

The Road Rules spin-off of The Real World shared the same basic idea. This time, a group of strangers between the ages of 18 and 24 were forced to live together in an RV, stripped of all their possessions and money, and had to perform challenges as they moved from place to place.

16 and Pregnant (2009 – 2015)

The turmoil that surrounds the Teen Mom cast members has definitely come to your attention; it all began with 16 and Pregnant. The episode focused on a group of young women from different parts of America who all unexpectedly became pregnant under various circumstances. When it initially debuted, it was controversial, but since then, it has spawned a ton of fruitful spin-offs.

How to Watch Those MTV Reality Shows?

Since MTV Live is only available in the US, it can be difficult for people trying to access it from other countries to bypass restrictions and restrictions. However, to bypass these geo-restrictions with relative ease, a VPN is required.

  • Get a VPN with a US server
  • Connect to US server
  • Visit MTV.com

Best VPNs for Watching MTV Outside the US

1. ExpressVPN-The fastest and most reliable VPN in 2022

Number of servers: 3,000+
Speed: >80%
Bandwidth: Unlimited
IP locations: 160 in 94 countries
Devices supported: 5
Live chat: Yes
30-day money-back guarantee: Yes

ExpressVPN is universally regarded as the world’s leading VPN service. While some free VPN services have much larger user communities, ExpressVPN is the biggest premium service and offers reliability, security, and privacy to beat all of its rivals.

What We Like

  • Installs on routers
  • Simultaneous connection allowance of five devices
  • Split tunnelling
  • Large choice of server location
  • Very strong connection encryption

What We Don’t Like

  • One of the most expensive VPN services
  • China blocks its main website (but not functionality)
  • Live chat support is not always responsive

ExpressVPN is still the best VPN. And importantly, it ALWAYS has servers that are open with major streaming sites such as Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video etc. ExpressVPN is usually very good at playing Cat and Mouse with online streaming sites (apart from BBC iPlayer). Meaning, whenever one of its servers is blacklisted it creates a new one – giving its users a constant stream of servers that aren’t blocked.

Needless to say, this is a valuable attribute if you’re looking for a VPN to unblock streaming sites. Its app is easy-to-use and free to download on pretty much any device you can think of. Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, FireStick, Android TV, Roku, PS4, Xbox, Linux, even Apple TV (with a workaround). It’s got it all covered. The app is another main reason this VPN is so good at unblocking TV streaming sites (that claim they block VPNs) is that its software takes a pragmatic approach to user management.

2.NordVPN-A very quick and trustworthy VPN

Number of servers: 5,000+
Speed: >80%
Bandwidth: Unlimited
IP locations: 62 countries
Devices supported: 6
Live chat: Yes
30-day money-back guarantee: Yes

NordVPN has more VPN server locations than its main rivals and is particularly good for US sports fans who want to avoid fixture blackouts on streaming services. The user-friendly NordVPN app offers split tunneling, a Tor interface, a double VPN option, and security features to protect torrenting, gaming, streaming, and any other online activities, making this one of the best secure VPN service providers in the world.

What We Like

  • A large number of servers
  • Threat protection with a proprietary security system called CyberSec
  • Split tunneling
  • Obfuscated servers for China and other locations where VPNs are discouraged
  • No-logs policy
  • Automatic wi-fi protection

What We Don’t Like

  • Parts of the server network have poor download speeds
  • No servers in India
  • Onion over VPN can be slow

NordVPN is the most widely-used VPN in the world. And it’s easy to see why. It’s a polished app that delivers fast connections (more on this later) to a massive network of VPN servers. It’s the most reliable at unblocking popular streaming services too – US Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, BBC iPlayer, HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video, etc. This is because NordVPN hired a full-time technical team (that’s responsible for monitoring its servers’ connections with popular TV streaming services) and has been aggressively investing in its network of IP addresses in key locations.

Another interesting thing to note is that NordVPN is an industry leader in its development of Nordlynx technology. Nordlynx is built using the WireGuard, a new VPN tunneling protocol designed to outperform current standards (OpenVPN and IPSec). The benefits, according to NordVPN, are dramatically faster transfer speeds while connected to a VPN. My tests – New Zealand to London – confirm that Nordlynx is currently the fastest VPN on the market. However, the difference isn’t dramatic, a few Mbps is all.

Conclusion

You may stream your all-time favorite TV series and movies on IMDb with top-notch VPNs. Take this rare opportunity to look back at those MTV reality shows you watched as a kid!
